On or about January 16, 2008, while employed as LVN in a hospital in Nassau Bay, the LVN failed to assess and intervene appropriately when Patient VW, complained of chest pain that continued throughout the shift. She failed to notify the charge nurse of the patient’s unrelieved chest pain thereby depriving the patient of additional nursing assessment and possible medical interventions which may have prevented cardiac complications and demise.

In response to the incident, the LVN states that the patient reported to her that he believed the pain he was experiencing was caused by indigestion. Additionally, when the patient complained of pain, the LVN took his vital signs and called Telemetry, who reported no change in the patient’s cardiac rhythm that as a Licensed Vocational Nurse she was not taught to read cardiac rhythm strips and she did keep the Charge Nurse informed of the patient’s condition.

The Texas Board of Nursing then subjected the LVN and her license into disciplinary action. The accusation would have been defended by an experienced and skilled Nassau nurse attorney, had the LVN hired one. Hiring a nurse attorney for defense is applicable for any kind of accusation laid against an RN or LVN.
