Nurses are always at risk for accusations of medical malpractice or negligence.  If someone filed a complaint against you, your license could be put in danger if not defended by a Houston nurse law attorney. A RN from Houston, Texas is just one of the many examples of nurses who were charged with negligence and failed to hire an effective Houston nurse law attorney.

This is exactly what happened to an RN in Houston. Read on to find out her case.

On or about October 10, 2018, through October 11, 2018, while employed as a Registered Nurse in a medical facility in Pasadena, the RN failed to intervene and notify the physician when a patient had oxygen saturations ranging between 84-95% throughout her shift.

She also failed to completely reassess and document the vital signs which were recorded by the telemetry monitor. She failed to document the nursing interventions taken to address the abnormal vital signs or to make corrections to any inaccuracies recorded by the telemetry monitor within the medical record. There was no documentation of reassessment and indication of vital signs being reassessed for accuracy. Her conduct created an incomplete medical record.

During the hearing, the RN states throughout her shift, the oxygen saturation of the patient had decreased to the mid 80’s when she assisted her to the bathroom and the telemetry was disconnected so he increased the flow of oxygen to 3 liters per nasal cannula to sustain an oxygen saturation within the nineties.

She also states that the patient did not complain of shortness of breath, was able to walk unassisted to the bathroom with no shortness of breath, had a diagnosis of COPD; therefore, there was no need to notify the physician of the patient’s temporary desaturation.

The RN further states that per the units protocol, all vital signs are recorded by the telemetry monitors. Also, she states that he documented an initial assessment of the patient upon her arrival to the unit and felt that she exhibited no change in her baseline status that warranted a focused assessment, per policy.

However, without an effective Houston nurse law attorney to help her defend her side, the RN was suspended by the Texas Board of Nursing.

If someone filed a case against you involving misconduct, malpractice or negligence, it is wise to consult with a Houston nurse law attorney who knows everything about nurse cases.  Contact nurse attorney Yong J. An at (832) 428-5679 if someone filed a complaint against you.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

I consider Yong as the biggest blessing in my life for this year. While I was practicing as a professional nurse in Texas, I received an order from the BON limiting my practice. This was problematic for me since I wanted to continue working for my employer. Yong was the one who wrote a reply letter to the Board and explained my innocence. He made all the necessary arrangements, which led to the issuance of an order in my favor…

I searched for a Texas lawyer who is good at handling nursing defense cases. During my research, I came across the website of Mr. Yong. I read positive comments from his previous clients, which made me become more interested in what he does. Because of this, I tried to send a message via the website. What made me really happy was the fact that a member of his team responded right away! He was so nice to me. I wish there won’t come a time that I would require the services of a lawyer. But right now, I have to say that I will recommend his firm to those who are in need!

The nice thing about Mr. Yong is that he is an expert in the legal aspect of the nursing industry. He has this ability in helping clients to feel calm and more relaxed while the case is going on. With his efforts, he was able to dismiss the case filed against me. I was able to keep my nursing license because of him. My case was quite difficult but he won! This only shows that he is an amazing and skilled lawyer in Texas.
