On or about October 9, 2018, the RN lacked the fitness to practice professional nursing in that she exhibited impaired behavior that included, but was not limited to: appearing disheveled, staggering/unbalanced gate, falling asleep, falling down, and needing assistance to sit down. In response, the RN states that on the morning in question she received a call that her father, who was dealing with prior health issues, was experiencing acute renal failure and had developed a deep vein thrombosis and end of life care, was discussed. The RN states that she was devastated and extremely upset by this news and was overcome with overwhelming emotion and did fall to the ground. The RN explains that because she was in an unfamiliar city and had no one to discuss this with and is a very emotional person, all she could do was cry when presented with the news. The RN tried to compose herself and return to orientation but was asked to leave the room. According to the RN, this only added to her crying and fear.
The following incident had caused the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or referred to as the Board to place the LVN and her license into disciplinary action.
