A nurse attorney should be hired at all times whenever you undergo a case whether a civil or a criminal case, that may affect your RN license. This is what an RN from Abilene should have done when facing a criminal case that is affecting her license and work. Take note that the Texas Board of Nursing can settle matters with a nurse attorney if one is present with the respondent during a case.

On or about April 9, 201 9, the Texas Board of Nursing provided notice to an RN that an investigation was being initiated into alleged violations of the Nursing Practice Act and/or the Board’s Rules and Regulations Relating to Nurse Education, Licensure, and Practice, as follows:

On or about 2017 through January 2019, while employed as a Registered Nurse and the owner and operator of a medical facility in Odessa, Texas, the RN financially exploited three (3) patients and hired the RN to care for them. The RN subsequently used her position to hire employees from the facility to care for the patients. Furthermore, the RN told caregivers she had sold some of the patients’ belongings on the internet. The RN’s conduct exploited the patients’ vulnerabilities, caused financial loss to the patients, and resulted in confusion between the RN’s needs and those of the patients.

On December 20, 2019, the Board received a notarized statement from the RN voluntarily surrendering the right to practice nursing in Texas. A copy of the RN’s statement, dated December 11, 2019, is attached and incorporated herein by reference as part of this Order.

As a result of the RN’s misconduct, she will be facing disciplinary action from the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) which is caused pursuant to Section 301.452(b)(10)&(13) of the Texas Occupations  Code.  The RN should have hired a nurse attorney for instances such as this.

So if you’re summoned by the Board for a hearing against your case if you ever did a minor mistake at work, it’s best to consult a nurse attorney first.
